Sister Mary MacKillop is possibly going to become our first and only Saint. During the visit of Pope John Paul II some 13 years ago, the then Pontiff beatified her and the first of two proven miracles was recognised. The church is currently investigating a second miracle which must be verified by scientific and medical experts. If this occurs the door will be open for canonisation which some predict will happen during Pope Beneditc's visit in July 2008.

Sister Mary MacKillop's bronze statue has been created by Alan Somerville, the artist responsible for many public works in bronze including those on the Anzac Bridge and a stunning bronze of Pope John XXIII that stands respendent in Stanhope Gardens Catholic Church.
